Nature Photographer

Hello everyone, and welcome to my website! My name is David Fain and I enjoy inspiring with images of nature. I was raised in here in Florida. First moving to Homestead at the age of 3, I grew up in my preteen years around the Everglades, where I spent time with my dad and brothers exploring as the “mascot” of our boy scout troop. We later moved to Central Florida, where I spent lots of time outdoors, often commuting back to South Florida, where I'd hunt, fish and bird watch as a teen. But Volusia County was my favorite haunt, swimming and fishing along the St Johns River. Nature was my sanctuary. I eventually picked up photography when I was given an old camera by a family friend. Although I never made it my profession, photography became a “sleeper hobby” until about 20 years ago.

As a naturalist first, my photography begins with what I perceive in the field. Through the lens, I try to capture what I experience. I want to convey to others, my own personal sense of the divine as displayed in nature, expressed in images.

In spite of my desire to make a profession in what I really loved, I worked another career in information technology, data, marketing and administration. Nature was reserved for weekends. Just before I retired, I was a tour guide and I still maintain my tourism license in St Augustine. I also have a fascination with history / archaeology that fits in well with what we experience here in our ancient city.

My wife Debbie and I have 7 children and 12 grandchildren with another grand on the way. Most of our kids and grands are native Floridians with several born here in St Augustine. I still enjoy playing my guitar and singing after 40 years, and hit the open mic scene occasionally with friends. I am always interested in the natural sciences and I am a strong advocate for conserving our natural resources and keeping it clean for the next generation.
